Michael F. Martelli, PhD, DAAPM

Director of Rehabilitation Neuropsychology

Michael F. Martelli, PhD is the director of Rehabilitation Neuropsychology for Tree of Life and Concussion Care Centre of Virginia. He has over 20 years of experience in rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology with specialization in practical, holistic assessment and treatment services, primarily in the areas of rehabilitation of neurologic and chronic pain disorders. He has served as the Commissioner of Psychology for the Commission on Disability Examiner Certification of the National Association of Disability Evaluating Professionals, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychology, Psychiatry, and Rehabilitation Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems and in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The University of Virginia, and has a diplomate from the American Academy of Pain Management.

He also serves on several editorial review boards and brain injury related boards, and as ad hoc reviewer for several national and international journals, is a past President of the Brain Injury Association of Virginia, and has written and lectured widely in numerous areas relating to disability, rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology, forensic psychology and neuropsychology and chronic pain. He has produced a biopsychosocial holistic habit and self-retraining model and methodology for neurologic and musculoskeletal rehabilitation for which some impressive outcome data are currently being collected. He is also president of High Hopes, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing opportunities for persons with neurologic disability.
